One team, from the interface down to the machine.

Five directions under one roof, every one of them sold as consulting first, held by the same people from the first question about scope to the fifth year of operation.

What we cover, and what we refuse.

The five are sold together because they fail together. A fast interface on an architecture that cannot grow is a problem postponed, not solved, and an architecture nobody administers becomes an outage with a date on it.

01

Software design

The work starts before there is anything to build, with what the product has to do, who has to be able to do it, and which parts can be cut without the whole thing losing its point. What comes out is a design the build can follow rather than a picture of one.

Covers
Discovery · Interaction models · UI systems · Working front end
Produces
Mockups, an interface system, and the rules that keep it consistent
Will not
Hand over a deck and leave the thinking to you
02

Architecture, turnkey

Service and application architecture delivered whole, meaning the domain model, the APIs, the data path and the real-time layer. It is designed for the growth a business can finance rather than the growth a slide promises, and because we run our own systems the trade-offs here are ones we live with.

Covers
Domain model · APIs · Data · Realtime
Produces
A system whose failure modes are known before they arrive
Will not
Leave you an architecture nobody on your side can operate
03

Infrastructure, turnkey

Servers, networking, delivery and observability, built and handed over running rather than described in a document. We work with professional tools such as Nginx, Postfix, OpenDKIM and rspamd, and we know them well for the unromantic reason that our own platforms depend on them every day.

Covers
Servers · Networking · Delivery · Observability
Produces
An operating base you can see into, rather than a region you rent blind
Will not
Bill you for capacity a smaller, better-tuned base would cover
04

System administration and support

The years after launch, which is where most of a system’s life actually happens. Administration, monitoring, incident response, updates and backups, carried by the same people who built the thing, so an outage is our night rather than a ticket in somebody else’s queue.

Covers
Administration · Monitoring · Incident response · Maintenance
Produces
A system that stays boring
Will not
Answer an incident with a status page and no engineer behind it
05

Search and acquisition

Google Ads, technical SEO, AI-SEO and GEO, wired into product and revenue data so the cost of a customer is a number rather than an opinion held by whoever is presenting. Being cited by an answer engine is its own discipline now, and it is not the same work as ranking a page.

Covers
Google Ads · Technical SEO · AI-SEO · GEO · Analytics
Produces
Acquisition you can attribute, and therefore argue with
Will not
Report on traffic that never turns into revenue

Four phases, one team through all of them.

The first phase is the consulting, and it is where most of the value is decided. No stage exists to produce a document for the next stage, so each one ends with something that works or something that can be priced.

01

Discovery

What the system has to do, what it deliberately will not do, and what breaks first when it grows.

Ends withA scope that can be priced

02

Design

Interaction models and interface systems, decided against the operating problem rather than against a reference.

Ends withScreens and the rules behind them

03

Build

Implementation in increments that go to production, so the thing is real long before it is finished.

Ends withSomething running

04

Operate

Monitoring, incidents, iteration and acquisition, carried by the same people who built it.

Ends withNothing handed over

What the work is built on.

We work with professional tools such as Nginx, Postfix, OpenDKIM and rspamd, along with the databases and runtimes underneath them. Nothing on this list is here because it looks current. It is here because something we operate depends on it.
